International fair

We will set a booth for international exchange in the Interactive Festival 2017, The Sixth Triangle Festival, and other events to help people deepen their understanding of the world.

Kids Art Class for International Exchange

We will hold an art class as an opportunity for children and foreign students and Nagoya University of Arts to get to know and spend time with each other. We hope this will help children become friends with people from other countries and spur their interest in the outside world.

Nurturing people who will promote international exchange in the future

Grass-roots international exchange program

We welcome visits from Muan, South Korea, Guam, USA and other oversea municipalities and international exchange organizations. We aim to deepen our friendship, and have our citizens play the main role in developing international exchange at the grass-roots level.

Japanese language class for adults

We offer a Japanese language class for foreign residents to help them learn basic Japanese and adapt to life in Japan. Classes are held on Friday nights at the Community Center in the West Building of the City Office.

Japanese language class for children

Classes are offered to help foreign children who attend public elementary schools and junior schools in the city to study the Japanese language and acquire Japanese language needed for daily life. Japanese volunteers visit their schools once a week to teach them Japanese and help them get along at their schools.

Foreign language classes

We offer five foreign language courses at the Kitanagoya City Health Dome: two for Korean, one for Chinese, and two for English.

Assistance for projects for studying foreign languages

KIIA offers subsidies for foreign language study groups in the city to bear part of the fee paid to language instructors. The amount is subject to our budget allocation.

Provision of volunteer interpreters and translators

We dispatch volunteer interpreters support to schools, organizations, and corporations and offer support for translations upon request.

Regional development through international exchange

Kitanagoya district brand project

We aim to develop and spread handmade local specialties of Kitanagoya which started out through international exchange. In the process of planning and development by our citizens, figs were chosen as the core for Kitanagoya brand product, and we shall promote our products through campaigns with Icchan, an image character inspired from figs (ichijiku in Japanese).

Program for creating a multicultural society

We promote interaction and networking among local and foreign residents and families through various programs.

Programs for international understanding

We offer a series of lectures and movie shows for our citizens to deepen international understanding under the titles: “Get to know the world” and “Regional development through international exchange.”

Subsidies for international exchange projects

We provide assistance for international exchange projects implemented by organizations in Kitanagoya. The amount is subject to our budget allocation.

We open a counselling counter for foreign residents where they can come to share and discuss their problems.
