Lecture by Hatsuho Ide
How I got involved in international contribution by chance and encounters

Date: August 19, 2017(Saturday) from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Venue: Hall, Kitanagoya City Community Center
Program
(Message from the speaker):
Asian countries have undergone modernization at an amazing pace. However, contrary to the development in the cities, poverty still remains in rural districts and has even worsened in some districts due to foreign investment. In this lecture, I will report on the present conditions of slums in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. I will also talk about how I came to be involved in fair trade with people of developing nations, which became my life work. People in India who are discriminated as out of caste as well as people in Thai slums make beautiful craftwork. I help by providing them advice on ways to upgrade their work, so that their work will be appreciated for a higher value in Japan and more of their products will be bought. I am determined to contribute internationally by building a relationship that brings smiles to both these producers and their customers. I would appreciate it if you would consider contributing internationally by purchasing their products.
Speaker: Hatsuho Ide
